|||My husband is VP of a mortgage company and I have seen plenty of credit reports. They all show credit limits for all credit accounts. Have you ever seen a copy of your credit report? You can get one of your own for free. I am not sure where, but, I you can search the web or ask the question, here an Yahoo Answers and find out.|||every credit report i have seen has had listed the high credit on them.|||Do you have cards from Capital One? If so, they might be the problem.
They are the only major credit card company that does not report limits for cards that do have limits on them.(There are cards without limits card signature cards).
Capital One has received a lot of criticism for this policy and if you call a customer service representitive, they will tell you the policy is going to be changed by the end of 2007.
Until then, wait until they send you checks that have no cash advance fee.
Then max out the account using the checks, but being careful not to go over your limit.(Deposit these checks into the bank account you will be using to pay your Cap 1 card)
Check online for when the new balance is posted and then pay it promptly, before your next statement cuts so that you do not pay interest.
Then your high balance will be recorded and used in calculations to determine your credit score.
As I said before, Capital One has received much criticism for the practice of not reporting credit limits. The general consensus is that they do it to lower your credit score to make you pay higher rates and make you less appealing to other companies.
I have a link below about Capital One's policy and how it works to the disadvantage of their nearly 50 million customers.
I do want to be fair though, by the end of the year, they will be changing this practice.
