Are prepaid credit cards available to South African residents?

Are prepaid credit cards available to South African residents? In the Australian and New Zealand region we can purchase a prepaid card from a post office or newsagent, purchase an amount of credit that we would like to load on to it, and then use it in any credit card facility - online or offline. This is a credit card that is not connected to a bank account. I was wondering if South Africa had something similar.|||I did some searching for you try this site.

P.S. Vote best if that works for you lol|||I would find it hard to believe that South African residents don't have access to this type of service.

There is a US-based company you can use to send an ATM card to anyone in South Africa. If they have a sender in the US, Atmcash.com will be able to send the ATMCASH card to the recipient in S.A. and the recipient can withdraw the money at any ATM. Each transfer costs just $5 - this is a money transfer service.|||No I dont think so. You would just open a bank account and be issued with a card. So you can only spend what you have deposited into the account. They call it, savings account or transmission account.|||Not that i know off. I am not a financial wizz so there may be. What happens if you loose this card. Same as cash?
