Hi, I'm reaching the first time i've ever had to pay my credit card bill, and I'm really in need of an answer. If I pay over the minimum balance on my credit card bill, will the amount of money I pay become available for me to continue using on credit?|||When I pay my credit card bill, my limit stays the same. The amount of credit I will have is the difference between what I actually owe and the limit the credit card company has set for me.|||No it will not
Why?
Because part of what you are paying is interest.
So, if your minimum payment is $25 and you pay $50, that does not mean that the entire $50 is put towards the principal. Depending on your interest rate, a good chunk of it could be eaten up by interest charges.
Best to check you available balance a few days after you pay your bill. Even then, it may not be a true available balance, as some cards will add interest at a different time in the cycle of your billing!|||Not all of it, because interest continues to grow everyday there is a balance.|||No. Most of your payment will go toward interest charges.
BTW, when you charge more than 25% of your credit limit, you're lowering your credit score.
